This beginner-friendly workshop will introduce you to the identification, ecology, and importance of hoverflies. Guided by an expert, you’ll learn about their mimicry, life cycles, and roles in supporting healthy ecosystems. Ideal for nature lovers and aspiring entomologists, this session combines engaging presentations with practical activities to deepen your understanding of these remarkable pollinators and pest controllers.
Lunch: Please bring a packed lunch; refreshments will be provided
Clothing: Sturdy walking boots. Please dress appropriately for the weather and outdoor terrain.
Health & Safety: Please be mindful that this workshop includes an element of teaching outdoors. Waterproof clothing and good walking footwear are essential. As a rule of thumb, it is generally expected that any participants who sign up for a workshop that involves spending time in the outdoors will own and bring the appropriate outdoor clothing. A risk assessment for this event has been completed and participants are asked to listen carefully to the safety briefings that are delivered on the day.
